Quiet Old Temple in Ogigayatsu
Jokomyoji Temple was the family temple of the Hojo clan and
the Ashikaga clan. The Amida Sanzonzo statues (statues of
the Amida triad) in the treasure house feature the domon
style of decoration, a unique style from the Kamakura Period
in which clay decorations were made in molds and applied to
the statues. A hokyointo pagoda is located on the
mountainside behind the temple. This is believed to be the
grave of Reizei Tamesuke, a late Kamakura period poet, son
of Abutsuni, the author of Izayoinikki.
