Due to high waves, the fireworks barge will not be able to depart safely. As a result, the scheduled fireworks program has been changed.
At 6:00 a.m. today, when the decision was made to proceed with the event, conditions indicated that the barge could safely depart from Shonan Port (Enoshima). Fireworks were loaded onto the barge as scheduled, and preparations continued for its planned departure at 1:00 p.m.
However, as the departure time approached, ocean swells became significantly stronger, making safe navigation impossible. After closely monitoring the sea conditions and waiting for possible improvement, the Organizing Committee made the difficult decision at 3:00 p.m. to cancel the barge’s departure, with safety as the highest priority. The Kamakura Fireworks Festival’s signature underwater fireworks are still scheduled to take place from 7:20 p.m. for approximately 10–15 minutes, subject to final safety confirmation.
We sincerely apologize for this last-minute change and for not being able to present the full fireworks program as planned. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
